Gun Lake Casino has donated to the WAYLAND area once again as part of its community support activities. It has donated over $39,000 to four area fire departments: Allegan City Police Department, Allegan County Search and Rescue, Leighton Township Fire Department, and Hopkins Area Fire Department.
Each monetary gift served a specific function. Allegan City Police will spend $7,158 on an advanced drone, while Allegan County Search and Rescue will set aside $1,000 to help with missing person rescue searches.
“As leaders of the Allegan County Search and Rescue, we continually strive to provide the best support for our group of volunteers that have put in countless hours of training to help keep our community safe,” said Chief Randy MacNeill.
The majority of the funds were used to acquire two LUCAS chest compression equipment for the Leighton Township Fire Department and Hopkins Area Fire Department. In a cardiac arrest situation, the machine is designed to mechanically apply timely compresses to the victim’s chest. While CPR is being done, the LUCAS can be placed on the patient, and once in place, it will give consistent compressions without exhausting the patient.
“Providing information to police, fire agencies, and surrounding counties to assist in the search for loved ones. This is what we believe in. Our mission is to save people’s lives. This donation will immensely benefit our group and the community as a whole.”
Several years ago, the Wayland Fire Department received a similar CPR device through casino donations, which neighboring agencies have been sharing during emergencies.
Gun Lake Casino has given importance to safety professionals that cannot be understated and every essential worker should have the necessary equipment to protect our community. We are honored to generously support our local police departments with monetary donations to purchase the latest life-saving equipment.
