Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino Reopens

After an extended period, the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino opened their doors to the awaiting gamblers on 5 March at 10 AM. It has been closed for around one year because of the COVID-19 global epidemic.

It was closed from 15 March 2020 to 5 March 2021, 355 days. Ethan Linder, Marketing Director of Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, revealed that they had faced a 98 percent loss within this one year, and few employees were looking for new opportunities.

One of the staff said they installed thermal cameras and some other cameras to trace the number of guests and track their entrance and exit time.

Public Reaction

The Marketing Director of Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino said that they already fixed thermal cameras in different locations of the buildings to make sure that people who were exiting and entering the building were CDC level temperature approved. They also invested in automated people counter all over their buildings to ensure the population level did not over the recommended level.

On an opening day, people were satisfied to saw the precaution view of the casino. EI Pasoan, Maryann Avalos, said that it was a great day, and she felt safe coming to play. EI Pasoan Rocky explained that he was so excited, it was the first day, and he was there looking for a chance. Rocky used to come every day to the casino before the lockdown.

Ernesto Dominguez and Mary Hernandez said they had got their shots, and they felt a bit better, but it was not going to be relaxing for the long term.

Carlos Flores said that she kept constantly calling and finally was able to come to the casino. And it was felt relaxing to her after a very long time.

Also, the casino staff is ordered to prosecute COVID-19 prerequisites such as facemask as compulsory for guests and maintain at least 6 feet social distance. Few slot machines were removed from the floor, and other slot machines were kept turned off to maintain social distance.
