Against Legalized Betting Anti-Corruption Chief of Indian Cricket

The anti-corruption Head of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala, who opposes the sports betting legalization. The BCCI Head believe that sports betting legalization could lead to match-fixing.

BCCI’s Head says that Legalization of Sports Betting Leads to Corruption

On April 1, Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala took over BCCI’s Head from Ajit Singh. And this week, he stated that he is opposed to sports wagering legalization on Cricket on the risk of match-fixing ground.

The Gujarat States former director-general of police is Khandwawala, disagree with Singh’s view. Sing supports the legalization of sports betting said that it is the best way to prevent corruption in Cricket.

The new ACU chief of BCCI said that his views would remain the same regarding whether sports betting gets legalization by the government. According to him, for a good reason, the government does not legalize sports gambling.

Moreover, he added that wagering encourages corruption. He believed that more strict rules needs and that could happen through BCCI. As Cricket is not legally corrupt, it is a prestigious game, and for that’s the BCCI should take the credit, Khandwawala stated.

India’s National Sports governing body is BCCI, and also in world cricket, it is the most influential body. In 2019, the estimated income of BCCI was $535 million.

To Avoid Match-Fixing, Top Players are Well Paid
